Dave and I cooked up the idea of having a dinner club for our foodie friends. This event would happen on a monthly basis or upon request. The guest list would be established via e-mail invite to our foodie friends and only confirmed guess could attend. This might lead to something else I’m brewing up.
The idea is to host a restaurant style dinner party at a different foodie friends house once a month at a fraction of the cost of going out for dinner. I would write/cook a different menu each month and serve a wine pairing for each course. If our guest were more focused on the wine aspect of the event, we could invite a guest sommelier to enhance the experience.
This Sunday was a dry-run of the dinner club and I think we hit the ball out of the park.
We invited 9 friends/family to be our guinea pigs to test the concept.
I wrote an Asian inspired menu, we purchased most of the menu’s components @ the new T&T Asian Supermarket on West Hunt Club. Note to self, stay away from this place on the weekends
Dave selected the wine pairings, I find he made the perfects matches to balance the bold flavors of this menu. I think my favorite of the wines was the 2006 Pisse-dru Beaujolais Chardonnay – France.
